domino wall hanging

Image
This wall hanging a little bit different from what I've done in the past. It us made with domino's that I have covered in alcohol inks and glued together. Once they were together I stamped on them using a birdcage stamp and some archival ink in sepia. I accidently caught the ink after I had stamped it but instead of it smudging it just wiped away taking most of the back ground colour with it making it look like it had been masked so I rubbed it all off and love how it turned out!!
The Bird was given to me with some other die cuts when I purchased some paint dabbers from eBay so I used said paint dabbers to paint it before sticking it to the front. to finish it off I stuck ribbon all around the edge and made the hanging loop and covere d the back with card stock before adding 2 little cream roses on the sides.

Baby boy

Image
I made this card for some friends of mine that have recently had a tiny baby boy. I wanted to make something different and I wanted it to have a bit of a vintage/retro feel to it. I started with an easel card from kanban that I covered in some lovely K & Company paper with unicorns on. I used a striped paper also from K & Co and then punched out one of the unicorns and the word love using the spell binder. I added a spotty ribbon to it and the word baby in grunge board that I covered with blue ink and silver glimmer mist.
I am also entering this card in the Daring card makers challenge http://daringcardmakers.blogspot.com

Butterfly challenge

Image
I decided to get myself motivated I would have a go at some challenges this first one I thought I would tackle is on the card making and paper craft websitehttp://www.cardmakingandpapercraft.com/challenge/butterfly-challenge
The card has to feature a butterfly which as I've got loads of butterflies on different things I figured it would be the easier of them to do :)

Well this is what I came up with!

The butterfly background is the Mariposa matstack from DCVW I love the little glittery butterflies on there. The ribbon is a piece of seam binding that I stuck another piece of striped ribbon over before sticking on the sentiment that says Whimsical Wonderful, this was cut out from collage musings stack by DCVW. The edges of the card were covered in spiced marmalade Distress ink. the 2 butterflies are Tim Holtz grunge board that I ran through my embosser and then covered in spiced marmalade, glimmer mist and stickles.

Calling for a bit of help!

An old school friend of mine is embarking on a challenge to raise some money for a very worthy cause. I have to admit I gave a donation before I even looked a the cause but now I have had a look I am glad I did and I have tears in my eyes.
The money is for the Alex Camwell Tribute. http://www.actfund.co.uk/ This is what it says on the home page of the site "The Alex Camwell Tribute (A.C.T.) Fund was set up in 2009 by Debbie and Ian, who lost their son Alex to a rare genetic disorder called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1. Alex was six and a half months old when his parents were given the devastating news that Alex had SMA. To Debbie and Ian SMA was baby milk. Finding information about SMA was extremely difficult as the Doctors and Nurses in Glenfield Hospital, Leicester, knew very little. So little was known that when the shocked parents asked to have Alex's organs donated, many phone calls had to be made, and only one team of surgeons from Oxford agreed to do thi…

Altered art birdcage canvas

Image
This must be a record, I don't think I have ever managed to complete a project this fast before!!
The canvas has been painted with a few different coloured acrylic paints that I have swirled around. I ran a piece of grunge board through my embosser to put the pretty circle pattern on it. I covered that with spiced marmalade distress ink and brushed over some copper pearl powder. The lace that I have attached to the bottom of the grunge board was white but I soaked it in fired brick distress stain, then rubbed it through some watered down walnut stain.
then the paint on the canvas was drying I flicked some copper pearl powder over it, then when it was dry I stamped some birdcages onto the background with walnut stain distress ink. The grunge board bird has been inked over with walnut stain and antique linen distress inks. The little bird on the top has been stamped onto a little domino which was painted in copper paint. the bird cage is a Tim Holtz die cut that was covered in metal m…

What's on your work desk? Wednesday

Image
I hadn't heard of this until my sister told me about it, I have had a look a few times but decided to join in this week as I actually have something on my desk other than junk!! I am working on an altered art picture using some Tim Holtz products and some other bits and pieces I have lying around. I am hoping this will be finished tonight, but it all depends on how crazy I end up going with it and how sore my eyes get (they are stinging already thanks to my wonderful children sharing their cold with me) All of these bits I have had in a separate box for a few weeks as they are all bits I really like so i'm excited to see what I can come up with using them all! :)

Lighthouse altered frame

Image
This lighthouse picture is from some wallpaper samples I got last week it was a boarder I think but I loved it as soon as I saw it and knew I had to use it some way or other. The frame is a papier mache one from the works. I have tore bits of paper some of it is Debbi Moore designs and some of it is from provocraft not sure if there are any other makes as it is all just from my paper stash. I have stuck everything down and then sealed over it with my homemade mod podge. This will be going in my eBay store later on tonight.

A little bit of love

Image
I am loving working with paints right now and really enjoying altered art. this picture Has been painted onto a canvas board. I covered it with burnt umber acrylic paint making it thick in places and almost blobbing it around to give the pattern it has. When it was completely dry I brushed over it with a copper dabber. The words and images are Tim Holtz grunge board, I ran the wings through my texture boutique to add the swirl pattern to it before painting them with acrylic paint and adding some perfect pearls. The heart was just painted with acrylic paint and the crown was painted then covered with the copper dabber. For the letters I covered those with distress stain in fired brick and rubbed over lightly with some perfect pearls. With the flourish I covered it with peeled paint distress ink then spread on some copper perfect pearls glimmer mist.
