My twisted Valentine Macabre Monday

This weeks Macabre Monday challenge is to use something metal or metal themed. I decided to go with this twisted valentine canvas for my entry.http://haunteddesignhouse.blogspot.com/

The top of the canvas has been painted with black acrylic paint once side I've scraped my knife through it to make it look a bit like a spider web design and on the other side I used the knife to make the pattern. I also used acrylic paint but in red to make the pool of blood. while it was drying I tore a piece of graphic 45 paper and ran it through my embosser and rubbed a little silver rub and buff on it to give it a metallic look.

I then started work on the heart. This was cut out of a piece Tim Holtz grunge board then ran through my embosser, once I had done that I covered it with a black paint dabber. While the paint was drying I covered it with red embossing powder and heating it up, I did this several times to get a good build up. I really love how it's given the bubbling effect on it.

I made the barbed wire with some jewelry metal wire twisting it until I'd got a length that I wanted. When the heart was dry I wound the metal wire around it and dabbed on red acrylic paint where the wires 'pierced'.

I had to leave it all over night to dry up properly then I was able to rub over the black paint with the silver rub and buff and stick the heart on with hot glue.

I've really enjoyed making this and i'm already looking forward to next week challenge :D
