Decorated candle tutorial

A Few weeks ago I decorated a candle using a gorgeous Robyn's fetish image, I have used this same image to make this tutorial. I will try to give enough details in this post but if you have any questions please either ask in the comments or email me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

What you will need
A pillar candle
a stamped image, hand stamped or digi on cheap copy paper.
some pens or pencils to colour the image

Step one.

Print out your digi or stamp your image onto a piece of cheap copy paper and colour it with your chosen pens/pencils, once this is done roughly cut it out.

Step two

place the image onto the candle in the position you want it to be, as you will be heating it up use something to hold it in place to prevent burning your fingers.

Step three
Use your heat tool, or hair dryer to heat up the candle pressing your image into it, you will see the image get a little darker when this happens you know that the wax underneath it has melted sticking to…

Smudgy Antics Challenge Reptile rampage

This week our challenge at smudgy antics is Reptile rampage

Reptile: 1.) Any various cold-blooded, usually egg-laying vertebrates of the class Reptilia (think snake, lizard, crocodile, turtle, dinosaur, or dragon).
Reptile:  2.) A person being regarded as despicable or treacherous.

Rampage:  Violent or excited behavior that is reckless, uncontrolled, or destructive.

We are asking you to incorporate the spirit of a reptile rampage into your project for the week.  There are several directions you can take this prompt.  You can use an image of a reptile or you can use papers or textures that resemble a reptile's skin, or in the case of a turtle, its shell.  You can throw caution to the wind and get reckless in the creation of your project by ripping, tearing, and distressing a project almost to the point of destruction while still maintaining an awesome piece.  This theme would be great for art journal pages too.  Show us, through your art, a time where you may have been reckless or on a…

upcycling to make Christmas gifts

I have been playing around with ideas for cheap Christmas gifts and came up with this.

The jar is a bisto one that I washed out, The green material that is wrapped around it was a tank top of mine that had a hole in so I cut a strip out of it and wrapped it around the jar and glued it in place. I stuck some ribbon around the middle of the jar and around the lid then cut 2 circles from a scrap piece of card stock. I stamped a snowflake onto the circles with versamark and heat embossed it with Zing copper metallic powder.
These jars can be made in any colour and filled with anyone's favourite treats or even some homemade bath salts.

Smudgy Antics Challenge Time stands still

We at Smudgy Antics are asking you to slow it down a bit for this challenge.  Not only will time be slowing down, it will be at a complete stop because this week's theme is "TIME STANDS STILL".

I have made a frame from a book, using the smeared ink stampIt's about time hourglass which has been stopped still with some barbed all made sense in my head lol

I do hope you will come and play along with us this week

Smeared and Smudged November Blog hop

Welcome to Smeared and Smudged's November Blog hop, please take the time to hop along and see what the wonderful members of smeared and smudged have made.

Blog Roll: Shell
Susan S.
Fiona Randall
Lisa Hall

The theme of this months hop is to alter something and the normal smeared and smudged rules apply it must be stamped somewhere either rubber or digi.

I have got my geek on for my piece and altered a stick of computer memory. I painted it with black gesso and left it to dry, while it was drying I stamped Poe and the raven wings from the smeared ink set quoth the raven, I have this set in rubber and digi and it is a fabulous set to have. I heat embossed the stamped images with black embossing powder, I then stuck it to a piece of black card stock and cut it ready to be attached to my memory stick.
I attached some wire with beads for hanging.

Now off you hop to the fabulous Kristy

New Smudgy Antics Challenge

Welcome My lovlies to another fabulous challenge from Smudgy Antics. This week we want you to twist it up with a twisted sister project.
You can interpret this in any way you wish.
I have created my own little freak show this week, I made a stage from wood that I distressed to make it look old. I sewed some thick padded curtains to go around it then made a sign for the top. I used some small LED lights to light up my little freak show. The image I used for this week isConjoined Twins - Carnies.

First time playing with pan pastels

I have been at the NEC today visiting the hobby craft and art fair. I had a great time and picked up some new goodies to play with, I stopped by Aly's stall from and picked up some stamps and my first pan pastels.Of course I had to play with them as soon as I got in, I should really read how to use them, but I like to dive right in so just played around and I have to say I liked how they worked out. The first piece I made was a book mark. Then I had a play around with the same stamps and some others that I picked up from Lavinia stamps along with one of their gorgeous scene-scapes.

I am going to be entering these into the current challenge at Cards Galore

New Challenge at Quoth the Raven

Thank you to everyone that joined us last month at Quoth the Raven, it was wonderful to see so many people showing us their talents. Hope fully you will all join us again for this months challenge which is TIC-TAC-POE.

You need to create something using a line from this grid

I used the middle row, Ribbon, POE and Emboss, although I did use some of the others as well.

I have altered a wooden door hanging, I did to start with stamp poe direct onto it and emboss with clear powder, but I  didn't like it so I stamped another and embossed with Black powder, cut it out and stuck it on once I had sprayed the hanging with glimmer mist and used several distress inks on it. I stamped and embossed the raven and Nevermore then cut both of them out, I have used a cream ribbon on the bottom that I covered with black soot distress ink and the leather barbed wires is from my stash.

The stamps I have used are all from Smeared ink who are sponsoring us this month, These stamps are featured on the se…

love's the funeral of hearts

This is a piece I made for the GDT challenge over at smeared and smudged the guest for this month is PiHi who has challenges us to make something using the song The Funeral Of Hearts. I had been playing around with a coffin send to me by Lady B so thank you for that I couldn't have made this without it!  I used some of the techniques learned on the Andy Skinner Timeworn techniques course for altering my coffin then I used some hearts from smeared ink which I coloured with promarkers and attached to some mesh like they are flying out of the coffin at least that is what I see when I look at it :)

I am also entering this into the following challenges

Smudgy Antics TIC-TAC-TOE

This week's challenge is a fun one.  Can I interest anyone in a game of  TIC-TAC-TOE?  Just pick any three items in a row from the grid below.  You can go up and down, across, or diagonally.  Please make sure to list which three items you have used in the making of your project and use at least one stamped image ("real" or "digi").

This is my piece for today, I made a tag usin ghte middle row, distress, monochrome and fabric.

The image I used is heavy metal criss cross corset I printed it onto some daisy trails steampunk paper twice and layered it to it would stand up from the page. The fabric is from a box of bits I have been saving for a just incase moment lol The words are Tim Holtz stickers.
I do hope you will come and join us this week at smudgy antics
