smeared and smudged DT throwdown CATC

I have never made a chunky ATC before so when the winners of the last DT thrown downHDH picked it as the new theme I hadn't got a clue what I was going to make. I tried to make one with the template, but failed every time. I eventually found 3 little canvases that are atc size and glues those together.

Although I have kept my design fairly simple there are lots of little bits involved and it did take quite a while to do it all.

To start with I sprayed the CATC base and a wooden spool with brass spray paint. While that was drying I:

Stamped Rebecca Sinz Moonlit Companionsand coloured it in with promarkers and cut it out. I printed off a Halloween collage sheet from and cut out one of the Ouija boards.I stamped the skull background stamp from smeared inks rubber set morte onto some acetate and cut it out to the same size as the ATCI used the morte stamp again to stamp onto 2 mini vintage domino's then dabbed copped alcohol ink around the edges of themfinal…

LOC Christmas in July

I don't know about where everyone else is  but where I am right now is rather warm, and Christmas is probably the last thing on everyone's mind here. For me making Christmas things a year round process as I like to be prepared for it :) So why am I talking about Christmas you might be wondering, well this fortnights challenge at Left of Centre is Christmas or creepmas in July.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Rick st Dennis  so I got to use this fabulous image called Creepmas Witch tree
The image was coloured with promarkers. The sentiment I typed and printed and all the other bits I used are from my stash (I'm still trying to work my way through it)
I do hope you will join us with this challenge.

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges.

Fairy, Fairy

I have had this image coloured in for a week or so now waiting for some inspiration. I did start to make something else with it but it just wasn't going to do it justice so I changed my plans and decided to make this double tag instead.

The image is called Summer Fairy by Rick st Dennis and is the July freebie for the challenge at

The image was coloured with Spectrum Noirs and promarkers then the wings were rubber over with metallic gilding wax. The black tag was run through an embossing folder then again rubbed over with the gilding wax. The tag on the top was inked through a stencil then heat embossed in clear with glitter then sprayed in tuscan sun tattered angels glimmer mist, when it was dry I inked through some wire mesh in pink in the corners.
The railing trim is a Tim Holtz die and was cut from a sheet of card from the DCWV the blossoms and butterflies stack. The flowers, ribbon and gems …

Crafty day

I've been feeling inspired today and have made loads of things, One of them I have already blogged another 3 I am going to share now and the others are future DT pieces.

The first piece is my entry for the freaky freebie challenge on the I coloured the image in with promarkers then used some dies to cut the image and to cut the scalloped circle behind it. The ribbon I used is some ribbon I brought really cheap at Christmas time from the wrapping paper ilse in Wilko's, it cost £1 for 3 meters of it. I finished it off with a pin on the back.

The next piece is a tag I made with the new rubber stamps I got in the post this morning. They are the June set Morte and can be found here I also used some of the stamps from the prints set which can also be found on that link. I started by stamping the bloody handprints onto a black tag with read ink then covering with red embossing powder. I covered…

Simply Betty Bad mermaid

This journal page has been made for the facebook challenge on the simply betty fan page. I have coloured the image with promarkers then used different papers from my stash to put together the page. I also added some lace, washi tape and dew drops to finish it off.

Check out all the other entries too at

Use METAL with Smudgy Antics

For this challenge you need to use metal on your I've been slightly naughty with this piece as I've not actually used metal as such, instead I used metallic paints, copper spray paint and metallic embossing powders.
I worked on a 16" x 20" canvas board. I covered it with the metallic paints which I added with a sponge. The images are from the Venice digi set I transferred them to the canvas once the paint was dry and added a little bit of metallic paint and metallic wax to them. The 2 papier mache masks were from hobby craft, the one on the top was covered with several layers of the metal Utee and the one on the bottom was covered with a few coats of copper spray paint, when it was dry I added the gems. Both masks were finished off with some black feathers.

Grumpy Love

I made this piece a while ago but I didn't want to blog it until I knew it was at it's new home. I made this Key chain with a domino which I had covered in alcohol inks then stamped on with a little rubber grumpy the digital version can be found here. To seal it I covered it with glossy accents.

I am entering this into the following challenges. (the colour is lime green, not easy to see sorry)

A little bit of Poe

I felt like getting inky so made this quick page for a mini book I am putting together. I used distress inks all over the page. The stamps used are rubber stamps from smeared ink from the Quoth the Raven set and Holy city both can be found here . Poe was given a coating of distress embossing powder in antique photo. the little piece of washi tape is some I have made.

Libra scrapbook page

I've been trying to find the time to get something finished with the new horrorscope images from Delicious Doodles. I have finally got something done with one of the images, Libra. I sometimes feel like I don't want to make cards just for the sake of it, ATC's and tags are fun but not very big so I decided to start making pages which I am going to make a book with. This way I get to keep my art and I don't have to worry about it getting all scrunched up in a cupboard.

Coloured the image with promarkers and layered it onto some cardstock from my stash. The backing paper on the page is actually from a wallpaper sample book and the brown again is from my stash. The black button is one I made with my own mold, the beads and charm and fibre are from my stash.

Spots and stripes with left of center

Welcome to a new challenge here at Left of Center!  This fortnight we are sponsored by Limited Runs Digital Stamps!  Such a great selection of digis in all kinds of themes and styles!  Be sure and stop by!
As always, we give you two different ways to join us- either create something with an LOC theme and/or this time we want to see Spots and/or Stripes!
The DT have been lucky enough to be able to use a digi from Limited runs, I picked Osrick there was just something about him that made me smile.
I coloured the image with promarkers and typed the sentiment. The papers I have used are a mix of My minds eye and Bazzil card stock.

Whatever you do, we want to see something scenic on your makes!

In the Wild, week 2 with Smudgy Antics

The theme for this challenge at Smudgy Antics is "IN THE WILD" .  We want to see how far you can take this challenge!  The more creative and out of the box the better your chances of a win!

If you are totally clueless, you can use an image of something found in the wild or you can create a scene that depicts being "in the wild".  You can even use actual elements of the great outdoors such as twigs, sticks, leaves, flowers, feathers, and stones, etc.
For my piece I have made a stepper card, I used the grumpies in rubber and coloured them with promarkers. I hand cut some green card stocks for the grass. The background was an image in the public domain that I put into craft artist and added the looking eyes from smeared ink to be peeking out from the wild at the grumpies, to finish it off I added some punched leaves.

Along came a spider

I am so glad Kapree posted the wrong time for this challenge to end or I would not have had chance to get anything made in time! The challenge was to make something inspired by the music video along came a spider I have made a digi page in craft artist, there are some images from the video and a stamped image from smeared ink used on this page.

Use a rubber Challenge

Each month Smeared and Smudged have a challenge on FB to use a rubber from the set they pick, this month it's the Quoth the Raven set, can't not play along with that one so I got crafting.

I used some chipboard pieces from  Wendy Vecchi that my sister gave me. I covered the back with card stock from a DCVW stack (can't remember which one it was as I pulled out the last few sheets and threw away the cover!). For the frame I used the bark stamp from the Urban decay stamp set from Smeared Ink with some archival ink in sepia. The Poe image again from Smeared ink was stamped onto a piece of kraft card and then covered with distress embossing powders. The metal pieces were from my big box of rusty bits and the key I bought from Ebay a while ago. The words are Tim Holtz rub ons.

Mid challenge inspiration for LOC

I didn't manage to get my piece made in time for the start of the challenge over at Left of Center so I have made this inspiration piece for a mid challenge reminder.

As always the theme is either the LOC theme or the challenge theme which this time is to use a sentiment on the front. this fortnights challenge is sponsored by the amazingly talented Ike of Ike's art.

I used Ike's image called Valentine to make this card.
