March Madness

Here we are with the Smeared Ink March DT blog hop.

It is a much smaller hop than usual due to illnesses and general life happening. But we will have 3 blogs certainly worth checking out.
As the theme is March Madness I have got with an Alice in Wonderland theme. I started by printing out the Cheshire Cat digi stamp onto some vellum and coloured it with promarkers. At this point I was still unsure what I was actually going to then do with the image. I was moving things around looking for inspiration and came across this big glass bottle which I got from a thrift shop as I loved how big it was and it's unusual shape.  The image way placed on the bottle and then I decorated the bottle some dome fibre and some mesh type material that was given to me by the lovely Black Dragon.  To finish it off I used a banner punch and punched out some AIW related images to make the banner on the top.

Mothers day butterfly

Anyone that knows me will know how hard it find it to do these pretty cards, however as my Mum doesn't like skulls and gore as much as I do I have had to make the effort.
I have challenged myself even more with this by doing a shaped card, I started off by running the front of the card through my big shot in an embossing folder. To highlight the embossing more I rubbed over it with some distress ink. The image that I have used is one of the Magnolia Tilda's, this one if one I picked up from a car boot sale a couple of years ago. The sentiment I used is a wooden stamp I got from Hobby Craft years ago and the label is the deco label punch from Stampin' Up! To finish off the card I used some Wild Orchid crafts flowers and a few flat backed pearls.

If friends were flowers

I have had a very productive evening and I've managed to make a good start on all my DT samples for the next few weeks. I have also made a few bits to send to some friends, the first one is a card I have made to cheer up a very good friend of mine.
The image I have used in this is called Snowdrop Fairy and is from Delicious Doodles. I have coloured her in with my Stampin' Write markers. I ran the card through my big shot in an embossing folder and inked over it with some  bundled sage distress ink. The two dies that I have used are ones I cut a long time ago when I was doing a pile of them. To finish the card off I stamped out the sentiment from personal impressions in the bundled sage distress ink and then used my decorative label punch from Stampin' Up.

Spring into spring with IKE'S WORLD Challenges

Stupid internet!! I had some serious net issues yesterday and this post just would not publish!

We are into week 2 of the current challenge at IKE's WORLD Challenges which is Spring into Spring. I was having a bad case of no mojo the past couple of weeks so it is only a little something from me today. The piece I have made is an altered wooden plaque which I will be adding a magnet to the back of.

I started by painting the plaque with some gesso and added some pretty paper, once it was dry I sanded the paper in places and added some distress inks to the edges. The image I picked is the Carnation from the Spain Bundle. To finish this piece off I stamped the word spring onto it with some tiny alphabet stamps.

The keeper

Here is my Smeared Ink DT piece for this week. I have made a journal page using one of the fabulous keeper images which is also one of the featured rubber sets for April. Details of the runner club can be found here.  I have also used stamps from the dedicated to art rubber set which was one of the sets for December and the hearts from the heart wings set which was the featured set in December 2012.

I have used the molding paste with stencils prompt, from the Art Journal every day group on the smeared and smudged forum, for this page. I didn't use a stencil as such, instead I used some die cut gears and added the molding paste that way. It hasn't shown up on the photo all that well though.

distant dreams

Hello lovelies! I've got a little something to share today using one of IKE's fabulous new images called Thoughts. I've had her coloured in for a couple of weeks sitting on my desk with a pile of other images so decided it was time to make something with her.  I love how she is staring into the distance makes me think she is dreaming of nice things :)

Let's play a game

I love the saw movies and really wanted to join in with the Saw themed challenge over at Haunted Design House. I only got around to starting my piece yesterday so I wasn't sure if I would even make it in time but I was going to go ahead and make this either way.

I started off with a wooden Jigsaw piece which I covered with some Quinacridone Burnt Orange, once it was dried I sanded it lightly, I then dipped my fingers into some bright red and dragged them across to give the smeared blood effect. The severed finger is one I picked up in a pack last Halloween, the hacksaw blade, rusty spanner and the wire to hang it with all came out of my box of rusty bits. I painted of the words with some airfix model paint.

IKE's ART journal page

I am sharing a piece today that was supposed to be blogged yesterday but blogger was not wanting to play. The piece I am sharing is another page in my paper bag album showcasing one of IKE's Fab images called Vamp. I coloured the image with promarkers and spectrum noirs, the page has been covered with papers from my stash, paints and distress stain.

This page was shown on the Left of Centre blog yesterday as part of their birthday celebrations so be sure to head over there and join in the fun.

Smeared Ink Dt piece with LOC

I am sharing another piece for Left of Centre's birthday event today. This time it is a Smeared Ink piece using one of the fab grumpies. I stamped the image and used grey tones to colour it then added a pop of colour by colouring the balloon in red.

Please go and check out the cool projects each day on the LOC blog and don't forget if you are entering the LOC challenges you could always come along to the Smeared and Smudged Forum to share your makes with us there.

The image I've used is a Smeared Ink exclusive IKE Image and it can be found here you will also find there some other IKE's images in the movie madness collection. There are also plenty of options in IKE's store which can be found here

I have used one stamp from each set on this journal page, I have coloured them in with a mix of metallic pencils, charcoal and distress inks.

Quoth the Raven Tic Tac Poe

I am very late posting my DT piece for Quoth the Raven, would seem time is going far too fast!

Our challenge this month is TIC TAC POE and the grid we are using is here below

I have made a journal page for my piece and I picked the top row to make it.

I started by painting the background with acrylic paints and then used some shimmer powders through a stencil. Once everything was dry I used stamps from Smeared Ink's Quoth the Raven rubber set all over the page in different colour inks.  To finish it I added a couple of metal embellishments and some fibres.
I do hope you will join us for this challenge.

Left of Centre 1 year anniversary

I was really excited when Maureen asked me to take part in the celebrations over at Left of Centre, I was lucky enough to have been a part of the first DT when the challenge blog started last year so I jumped at the chance to join in with this fun event.

I will be sharing a few pieces with you for LOC over the next couple of weeks and my first piece is a page from a paper bag album I am making. The image I have used on this one if from Delicious Doodles who are sponsoring the event and she is called Raven Goddess. I started by printing her onto some vellum and then coloured her with promarkers.

Anything but a card with Delicious Doodles

The new challenge over at Delicious Doodles is anything but a card. For my DT piece I have made a journal page. The image I have used is the gorgeous Dark Valentine. If you use facebook and haven't yet checked out the Delicious Doodles group I'd get over there quick! We've just hit 300 members to Teri is doing a bit of a giveaway.
