I was totally gutted when I realised that my comment hadn't gone through for the bloody valentine hop, so instead I'm sharing what I made today. It's a double page spread with a tag insert, the stamps I used are from the Bloody Valentine set and the Love Li'l Grumpies set.

There are only a few days left to get your entries into this months challenge. You can join in the fun by adding your Smeared Ink makeshere

Breathe - A Dedication to Susan Salyer

I've been doing more journaling recently, I rarely share these with anyone though as they are normally personal to me and often include painting or doodling which I know I'm not very good at. I purposely don't try to make things look real, I'm no artist and don't really know where to start, so instead I just do my own think like always and what happens, happens. Anyway I am waffling back to the point, it was a dear friend Susan Salyer who first encouraged me to journal, she had a confidence in me that I didn't, she is such a wonderful woman who has been through some hard times and is currently grieving. I wanted to make something with Susan in mind, and although this page didn't turn out how I had planned in my head I had to go with it and this is what I got.
The idea was that no matter how terrible things are, just breathe one breathe at a time, take one step at a time and eventually it will become easier and it will all be okay.

I will add at this point t…

Smeared and Smudged Members Hop

It's time for the February Smeared and Smudged members hop. The theme this month is cracked and broken. I have made a mixed media piece to share.

I started by adding lots of modeling paste to a piece of card (was a cereal box) then used the end of a paintbrush to scratch out the deep cracks. When it was dry it got a coat of gold paint, then I went into all the cracks with black before adding a thin layer of white (as you can see some of the black hadn't dried properly so I ended up with a grey colour). While that was drying I started on the heart, this was cut from a piece of card which I covered in a couple of layers of red tissue paper, scrunching it up a little as I added it. Both the heart and the black cracks had crackle accents applied to them and were left again to dry. While I was waiting for them I heat embossed the wings from the Smeared Ink Quoth the Raven rubber set, and did several other projects as I hate waiting for things to dry. To finish up the heart I added…

Make us Laugh with IWC

I'ts week 2 of the current challenge at Ikes World Challenges. The challenge this time is to make us laugh. For my piece I altered the cover of my weight watchers meeting folder, I have used a quote from the tv programme Absolutely Fabulous, the 2 images I have used are called Do your thing and DAAAHHLING.

Smudgy Antics weekly inspiration

It's my turn to post the inspiration for the Smudgy Antics challenge blog today. I'm sharing this card that I made for my Dad's birthday. I was really pleased with how this one turned out! The stamp sets I used were The Fringe and Inky Dreams.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges. - I used some old wood veneer for the banners

Smudgy Antics Inspiration

It's my turn to share over at Smudgy Antics today,  I have been having great fun over the past week making this mixed media tag. I started with cutting the tag from some black mount board and added texture paste through a stencil. To colour the tag and the embellishments I used gesso and different glimmer mists. The image is from the Smeared Ink set Other side of fear and to colour this I didn't use any fancy pens, or paints...I used 2 chunky kids wax crayons!

For the Love of POE

This month our challenge at Quoth the Raven is to create something to show valentine in a way fitting to Poe. I had many ideas but this ATC was in my head, therefore this is what I HAD to make :)
I used the rubber from Smeared Ink's Quoth the Raven set, and I used the heart from their candy is dandy set. The background started as a piece of dark green card, I ran this through my bigshot in an embossing folder, I then covered it with a gloss gel, while that was still wet I added the pieces of torn paper. When everything had dried I stamped over it with a background stamp in white and a light brown. The hand is a wood piece I got ages ago in a mixed bag of off cuts and the tiny glass jar is one I've had in my stash for about 10 years! I stamped out Love you from a stampin up set and added it to the jar.

New Release at Ikes Art

Hello lovies, today the team at IWC are having a blog hop to show off the brand new gorgeous images in IKE'S store.

I have used the Jelly fish and the sea horse head to make this banner, I really have a thing about under the sea right now so was thrilled to bits when I saw these stamps.

Kick start your art, use a page from a book

I've missed a couple of days of this challenge but as it's the weekend I've found a bit of time to join in with this one. The page I've used is in a werewolf book that I am starting to alter, there are so many cool images, pockets, pull outs and text through the book that I thought it would be a great one to play around with. I didn't want to completely cover the page I've worked on so I use the paint resist technique to reveal the bits I wanted once it was painted. The stamps I've used are from the Urban Decay rubber set from Smeared Ink.
