Final week of Snow Poe

Image
'Shiitake mushrooms' I totally forgot to do this post...you know when you know you've missed something but can't think what...so annoying. My final piece for this challenge is a mixed media hanging, I have used a piece of mount board as my base then used homemade molding paste, lace, paints and flowers along with Rubber stamps from Smeared Ink.  You've got one week left to your work entered with us at Quoth the Raven, remember it must be Poe related and for this challenge needs to be white with one other colour.

WOYWD Wednesday

Image
Oh my goodness it's been like 3 years since I last joined in with this! I'll be totally honest I was looking at some past blog posts and saw a link to Whats on your work desk Wednesday and I thought, I used to enjoy doing that, I wonder why I stopped. Well I have no idea why I stopped but I'm back at it again now LOL. So what is on my desk today? Actually not a lot as I cleaned it off earlier while trying to find my camera. I've got a stamped image from Smeared Ink that I have just finished colouring in and a few bits I am going to use to create something with that image. Wild Women

I'm looking forward to looking through everyone's blogs again and being inspired!

Kick start your art

Image
Smeared and Smudged are having a 5 day event to encourage us to just play with art journals and enjoy. Yesterday the theme was layers, today it is use lyrics from a song or poem. This is what I've created so far, the stamps are from smeared ink

Sketchy Challenge with IWC

Image
It's week 2 of the current challenge over at IWC, the challenge is to use this sketch for inspiration.

The image I decided to work with is BORED NOW!

I do hope you will come and play along.

Zombie Bookmark

Image
I've got a bookmark to share with you today, I was helping my eldest son with some art homework, showing him how to apply paint with a pallet knife, so I ended up with a sheet of black card with red paint all over it. I figured it would come in handy so put it up to dry, when I was thinking about what I was going to make for this week I saw the piece of card and thought...this would work with a zombie. I  cut out a piece in the shape of a coffin, added one of the stamps from the Zombie pinup set along with one of the sentiments and made myself a new book mark.

You still have a few days left to join in with this months challenge at Smudgy Antics

I'm Poe Fairy!

Image
I am totally pushing my luck with this piece and totally understand if the challenge blog decide to remove it for not fitting the challenge....I saw challenge, on the fantasy stampers challenge blog, called fairy nice. As soon as I saw it I thought Poe with fairy wings, after all even the darkest of people like a bit of fun and what more fun than donning some sparkly fairy wings LOL

I used the Poe and wings from Smeared Ink's Quoth the Raven rubber set.  I added some gold glitter glue to the wings then wrote out the words on some black card with perfect pearls. While all that was drying I put the background down on my journal page, well ok so that only took 5 minutes so I then spent the rest of the drying time on Dance Central LOL Once everything was dry I attached pot to a piece of string and hung it from one of the clouds so he is floating on the page. I then cut out all the words and stuck them all down.

Under the sea

Image
I felt the need to get messy today and all the other projects I am working on are in different stages and all drying so I started something new, I wanted something that I could start and finish in one sitting. I decided on this mixed media banner. I have used various ephemera that I had which matched the under the sea theme and then I stamped up one of the stamps from Smeared Ink's Abyss rubber set. She has been coloured in with spectrum noir markers.

Saturday Smudgyness

Image
It's my turn to share with you at Smudgy Antics. Today I've got a card to share, I have used one of the stamps from the Morbidly Adorable Tarot set 1. I used only colours from the brown grey and ice grey spectrum noir colour groups. The papers are some from my stash. So why don't you come along and join in the fun? It's always anything goes you just need to use a smeared Ink stamp.

Dead of winter/Snow Poe

Image
Yay! It's the first Smeared and Smudged member hop of the year. The theme is Dead of Winter, to start I was struggling for ideas and then I was listening to the world war Z audio book and it was the part where they talk about the zombies being frozen into the ground with just their upper body still moving. I knew then exactly what I was going to make.  Many of you already know how much I love to alter books, this was one that was starting to fall apart so rather than throw it away I turned it into something fun. The stamp I used is Half Zombie from the build a graveyard set, I also used one of the digital papers from Smeared Ink's Icy Paper set.

Something Old something new with IWC

Image
The first challenge of 2015 at IKES WORLD CHALLENGES is something old something new, you can take this literally like I have with my new dies and old image that I coloured in the summer last year and hadn't used yet. or you can take a twist on the theme, just let us know what your twist is.

The image I've used is spring fairy

Udderly Amazing!

Image
I can't remember the last time I sat and made something just for the sake of making something. I wanted to use this stamp that I won from Flonz last year, as I was already in the middle of Christmas makes when it arrived I never got chance to use it. So I thought what better way to show it off than in the current Flonz challenge which is new year new stash, I figure the stamp is new enough to get away with it ;) The 2 sentiments are from the punny-licious set from My pink Stamper

Killer Bo Peep

Image
Today it is my day for posting to Smudgy Antics, I've gone with a journal page this time. I started by colouring the background with distress inks and a white paint pen. The stamps are the Killer Bo Peep set from Smeared Ink, I had no plan with this page, I blindly picked up a box with a set of stamps in and went from there.  To join in with this current challenge all you need to do is use a Smeared Ink stamp....simple right?

Snow Poe with Quoth the Raven

Image
Quoth the Raven is back with a brand new challenge, snow Poe. We also have some brand new teamies who will be sharing their fabulous work each month too.
The Snow Poe theme is to create something using only white and one other colour, my other colour is weathered wood. I started by adding white ink through a stencil and then heat embossing it with clear powder. I then rubbed over that with weathered wood ink, the photo of poe and the verse from Spirits of the dead both of which were coloured to match the ink. To finish this off I've added a couple of buttons, some embossed white card, white flowers and a piece of white lace.

Smeared Ink DT piece

Image
It is my turn today to provide the daily Smeared Ink inspiration. I have made this tag using the gorgeous Moon in her Hair stamp from smeared ink.

She has been coloured using spectrum noir pens and I used up some paper and card scraps to make the tag.

If you make anything this month using a smeared Ink stamp then please pop over to the smudgy antics blog and share it with us in this months challenge.
